The Kindle e-book reader and the iPad Tablet

The growth in the popularity of ebooks resulted in the appearance of more electronic readers and tablets in the market than ever before. Whoever decides to go for one of them will find a wide variety of models, with several options to choose from. There are clearly two devices which are the most popular among the public: the Kindle reader and the iPad tablet. Let’s go through some basic differences between them.

First thing to consider is that the Kindle is a reader, with a monochromatic screen. The iPad is an electronic tablet, full size color. This brings up two main differences: the appearance and the price. At this moment we should think about which will meet our needs.

For those interested in reading just books, the Kindle will be enough. Those who may read newspapers, magazines, surf the Internet, play videos or view multimedia content; may need something more, like the iPad. This difference is reflected on their price: around $100 for the Kindle, above $500 for the iPad. An intermediate option may be the color LCD Kindle Fire tablet.

Size and weight are two factors to take into consideration as well. Some Kindle models are the thinnest and lightest on the market. The iPad adds inches and pounds to the package. Another interesting feature to think about is the touch screen. The cheaper readers don´t have this feature but tablets do. For some users this is a very friendly way to interact with the device.
